As 2025 comes to a close and we reflect on the progress we have all made this year, we wanted to share just how far Catland has come — both on the ground and in the lives of the cats we’ve helped.
This year has been one of the toughest we’ve ever faced. Kitten season was relentless, with more sick, underweight and vulnerable litters than ever before. Despite the emotional and physical toll on our small volunteer team, every surviving kitten found a loving, responsible home. Many injured and abandoned adult cats did too, and seeing them now thriving with their new families is what keeps us going.
Alongside rescue work, we’ve been building Catland’s future home from the ground up. As you know, this project is completely unpaid and not funded by the Town Hall — everything happens in our own time, driven purely by love for animals and the need in our community.
2025 build highlights
- Containers delivered to site — forming our office, clinic, nursery, quarantine and cat accommodation areas
- Insulation, windows, plumbing, electrics, air-con and security all installed
- Land cleared and excavated, with water connections prepared
- Solar panels confirmed for our fully off-grid site
- Fencing and gates installed to secure the land
None of this happens without you
What started as an idea in 2019 is now a real rescue site — just awaiting its final stages. It won’t be long before we’re welcoming you in for a tour once access to the main road is cleared.
None of this happens without you. Every donation, message of support, fundraiser and share helps push this project forward — even when much of the work happens quietly behind the scenes.
Thank you for believing in Catland. Thank you for standing with us. And thank you for helping us build a future where every cat in Jávea has a safe place to land when they need it most. Please enjoy scrolling through the photos on this post to see our 2025 round up.
With love,
The Catland Team
