HELP BUILD THE SHELTER

Working alongside local veterinarians, volunteers, partner organisations, and the Town Hall of Jávea, we aim to give cats a second chance while helping to improve animal welfare throughout our community.

When complete, Catland will provide a safe haven for up to 100 rescued cats at a time. Cats in our care will receive food, veterinary treatment, socialisation, enrichment, and the opportunity to find loving forever homes.

Our ambition extends beyond rescue. We want Catland to become a place where people can learn about animal welfare, responsible pet ownership, volunteering, and the importance of sterilisation and adoption.

We also plan to work with local schools and community groups to educate the next generation in a fun, engaging, and practical way. By helping young people develop compassion and respect for animals, we hope to create lasting positive change for both cats and the wider community.

A few years ago, Catland existed only as an idea. A dream.

Today, thanks to the support of our donors, volunteers, local businesses, and partners, that dream is becoming something very real.

Together we have:

✔ Secured land for the shelter with the support of the Town Hall of Jávea

✔ Installed the shelter buildings and key infrastructure

✔ Built a growing team of dedicated volunteers

✔ Rescued, fostered, and rehomed dozens of cats while preparing for the shelter’s opening

✔ Established strong partnerships with Jávea’s council, veterinarians and animal welfare organisations

✔ Continued supporting local rescue and TNR efforts

✔ Helped shape animal welfare protocols and procedures alongside Jávea’s council

There is still work to do, but, opening day is within sight!

Catland Jávea is an independent non-profit organisation. While the Town Hall of Jávea has generously provided the land on which the shelter is being built, the construction and operation of the shelter are funded through donations, fundraising events, sponsorships, grants, and the support of our volunteers.

We do not receive financial support from the Town Hall for the construction of the shelter. Every enclosure, building, and improvement is made possible by people who believe in our mission and choose to support it.

Quite simply, Catland would not exist without the generosity of our supporters.

Years from now, visitors will walk through Catland and see cats recovering from illness or harschip, playing in safe outdoor spaces. Many finding loving forever homes. When that day comes, we want to be able to say that this shelter was built by a community that cared enough to make it happen.
