She Deserved So Much More
Last night, just before midnight, Team Catland received a call from the local police. A compassionate couple had come across a small, tri-coloured cat, limp and motionless, barely clinging to life. They gently scooped her up, leaving her for the team to step in.
We rushed her to The Vets Jávea, where Norbert, the duty veterinary, immediately sprang into action. What the X-rays revealed was nothing short of devastating. A pellet from an airgun was embedded deep in her back. Shattered fragments surrounded her spinal nerves, likely causing unimaginable pain. The wound wasn’t fresh as scar tissue had formed, evidence that she had been silently suffering for days or longer.
She was severely emaciated, likely from being left paralyzed and alone. No access to food, water, shade, just pain and fear. Her prognosis was heartbreakingly poor.
The world failed her
We will never know if the shot was fired in cruelty or carelessness. But one thing is certain: someone hurt her, and then left her behind broken, forgotten, and alone.
We had to make the hardest decision of all to let this beautiful soul go. Her gentle spirit slipped away peacefully, but far too soon. She never got the chance to be safe, to be loved, to live the life she deserved.
Rest in peace, sweet baby girl. We’re so sorry the world failed you.
Please help us fight for those who cannot speak. We are a small, volunteer-run rescue, and we need your help emotionally, physically, and financially to continue doing this exhausting, heartbreaking, but vital work. No amount is too small. Every single donation helps us save lives. For her, and for the countless others still waiting in the shadows.
Thank you from all of us at Catland Jávea.
