Desperate cries
Late Saturday night alarmed by desperate cries coming from his garden, a man rushed outside and saw a fox attacking two cats. One of them managed to escape, but the younger one wasn’t so lucky.
The fox grabbed him in its mouth and tried to run off. Startled by the shouts of the homeowner, the fox dropped the cat and fled. The poor boy was bleeding heavily and unable to move his hind legs. He dragged himself onto the roadside and collapsed against kerb of the pavement.
We rushed to the scene and found a severely injured, terrified young cat. It was a difficult and possibly dangerous situation for both him and the rescuers, but we knew we had to succeed. With patience and care, we managed to net him gently and place him in a carrier.
Bite wounds were the least of his problems
At emergency clinic The Vets Jávea, he was immediately examined. We all held on to hope, but the x-rays revealed devastating injuries. The bite wounds in his belly were the least of his problems…. his spine had been displaced beyond repair. The kindest, most loving decision was to let him go peacefully, free from pain.
We so sorry, little one. Rest in peace now — no more fear, no more suffering.
