2024 – Incredibly Busy and Impactful

2024 was an incredibly busy and impactful year for the Catland team. While not every rescue has had a happy ending, Catland has profoundly changed the lives of many cats and kittens, who are now thriving in their forever homes with loving families. In the slideshow, you can see some of our happy endings.

Since completing the final stage of our work in January, we have tirelessly focused on building up the funds in the Catland bank account. This would not have been possible without the incredible support of everyone who fundraised, donated, or participated in our events. Thank you all for your dedication.

Looking ahead, we are excited to continue with the next phase of the build. In the meantime, we want to bring you some of our highlights and milestones from 2024 and share some of the amazing work that has been going on behind the scenes:

Dignity for All Cats
We partnered with the Ayuntamiento to establish a protocol for collecting deceased cats. This was a huge step forward in ensuring that every cat gets the dignity they deserve. Plus, families with missing microchipped cats can now be contacted, providing closure and easing heartache. This took a lot of work and collaboration, of which we are very proud.

24-Hour Veterinary Care in Jávea
A top priority is creating a 24-hour vet service to care for both street and domestic animals. We’re working closely with the Ayuntamiento to make this dream a reality in line with the new animal welfare law.

TNR Campaign Success
We proudly supported the 2024 TNR campaign alongside Jávea Feral Cats to help control the street cat population and improve their lives.

Incredible Rescues
We were featured on local TV for two unforgettable rescues: Modu, our courageous “palm tree boy,” and India, who was saved just minutes before tragedy struck. Both made full recoveries and are now thriving in their forever homes, thanks to our fantastic foster carers

Growing the Catland Family
Our volunteer team is expanding, bringing fresh skills and diverse expertise to the table. We take great pride in what we have accomplished together and everything we will achieve this coming year – all our hard work and dedication is simply for the love of animals and the determination to provide a better life and higher standard of welfare for the cats of Javea.
