Teamwork! A tree rescue with firefighters and town hall

Last night, Catland received a call from a colony feeder in Cap Martí who had heard a cat crying for two nights but had been unable to locate it. Eventually, the cat was found high up in a pine tree.

We immediately contacted the ISVH Voluntarios firefighters, who responded promptly with a high ladder. However, as soon as the ladder was placed, the cat climbed even higher, making a direct rescue impossible. Plan B involved creating a makeshift bridge using planks of wood to provide an escape route. Food was placed on the plank to encourage the cat to come down. Unfortunately, by morning, the cat had climbed even higher, precariously clinging to thin branches while strong winds swayed the tree.

At this point, Plan C was initiated. After reaching out to Juanjo Regidor from the Environment Services and Animal welfare department at the Ayuntamiento de Jávea, he quickly organized a professional rescue team. The only viable solution was to carefully cut the branch under supervision, ensuring a controlled and safe descent. With great care and precision, the team began cutting the tree, prioritizing the cat’s safety at every step. After some tense moments, the cat finally reached the ground. We soon heard rustling in the branches, and to our relief, the cat emerged unharmed—only to sprint off without a word of gratitude!

We extend our deepest appreciation to Juanjo, Ricardo, and the entire team from the Ayuntamiento de Jávea, as well as the ISVH Voluntarios, for their incredible efforts.

Special thanks also go to our Team Catland for their dedication and hard work in building the bridge. Your support and teamwork made this rescue possible—thank you!
