Aslan – Paco would have approved

In March 2025, Catland received heartbreaking news: Francisco Sierra ( Paco ) to his friends had passed away. Paco was a dear friend to all animals and cared lovingly for many of the cat colonies in Jávea, including the one at the cemetery.

The team of colony feeders were a close-knit group, sharing their daily experiences in a group chat. One morning that March, the devastating message arrived: Paco had passed away 💔

That same day, Catland team member Rosana Giner was at the cemetary feeding the colony. She had just found a young, friendly ginger cat, hungry, gentle and looking for comfort. When she received the sad phone call, she broke down in tears and instinctively turned to this little ginger boy for solace. It felt as if he had appeared at just the right moment.

After long discussions, we decided to keep him and name him Xisco, a Valencian nickname for Francisco, in Paco’s honour. We knew Paco would have approved 💜

A perfect home was found

Xisco was immediately taken to the vet to be castrated and a health check. Apart from some inflamed gums due to baby teeth he was deamed healthy. Xisco was ready for adoption and thanks to Rosana’s wonderful network, it wasn’t long before a perfect home was found. Angela Poveda, a passionate animal lover known to many from the Austrian Café and for her incredible organisational work during the Valencian DANA, had fallen in love with him.

Xisco is now called Aslan and lives a beautiful life with Angela, who adores her little boy.

Happy life, Aslan. And well done, Rosana Giner we are 100% certain that Paco is looking down from his animal heaven, comforted to know that the cats he loved so much are still being cared for ✨
