A ray of light
Colorá – A ray of light
18 years ago Colorá was born to the streets of Jávea. We will never know how she found her way to podiatry Clinica del Pie of Pilar and Alejandro, but she did! Colorá was welcomed with open arms and decided to stay.
Pilar, Alejandro and neighbour Natalia cared for this young shy tabby. They loved her, made sure she had her favourite food, took her for regular veterinary checks, she was sterilised BUT Colorá did not wish to be an indoor cat. She was a free spirit that wanted her wishes respected (I am a street cat, but do care for me and love me 🤗).
As the years passed by Colorá remained in her special place outside the door of Pilar and Alejandro. Colorá always had a warm box were she could take up refuge on a cold evening. Colorá was smart and streetwise! She also had a secret area were she took refuge during bad weather behind the previous location of Clinica Asis. However, as Colorá aged her carers became worried. Her feline senses were deteriorating, she always searched for the sunshine which occasionally found her laying close to danger in the busy road.
One day in early 2023 Team Catland was on route for a meeting with our architect. Colorá was lying in the sunshine but in a place that made us worry. Of course we knew her back story but wanted to see if we could find a safer place to sunbathe for the girl. A few days later call to Alejandro was made 😉 and it immediately became apparent that they as carers too were very concerned about their aging girl. Alejandro, Pilar and Natalia happily agreed to our proposal. A Catland foster family had offered to take Colorá into their home. She would become part of their family in their animal paradise.
A comfy bed and Youtube
Surprisingly, Colorá settled in almost immediately. As if she too knew it was time to retire. She spends her days relaxing in a room she has made her own. The other cats and dogs are welcome for a snooze as long as they are mindful of the fact that they are guests. Colorá adores her comfy bed on a table by the window where she catches her beloved rays of light. She loves watching videos with birds and mice on YouTube and, she is a foodie 😃 She is not fussy as long as she’s served meat or fish in gelatine (not sauce!) and Felix cat soup.
The close bond between Colorá, Pilar, Alejandro and Natalia has remained strong. Regular visits are made to see their little girl and they have so generously paid for Colorá’s veterinary checks and upkeep.
Colorá the famous street cat decided to give up her street life at the grand age of 15 to enjoy a well deserved retirement. We hope this special girl has many more years of sunshine, gelatine, YouTube, health and happiness
A huge thank you to Natalia, Pilar and Alejandro for all their love and care for Colorá ❤️
