Derek & Rosie – soulmates in fur

These two gorgeous little furballs, Derek and Rosie, found their forever home with the wonderful Emily and Jack. Though their rescue stories are worlds apart and happened months between, fate brought them together and now, they’re inseparable siblings.

Derek’s story began near Arenal, where he had made a home in a drain, sharing space with the local rats. Tiny, wary, and impossibly clever, he proved to be quite the challenge for the Catland team. Night after night, through chilly winter evenings, we tried every trick in the book to lure him in. He was always one step ahead, a cheeky, elusive tabby with a mischievous glint in his eye. But perseverance paid off. Eventually, with a little cunning and a lot of patience, we whisked Derek away to safety and warmth.

Rosie’s tale unfolded on a different kind of night — one filled with music and celebration during the fiestas in Jávea port. A faint, desperate cry was heard from inside a car engine. The baby in distress? A terrified calico kitten. Despite coaxing and waiting, she refused to budge. Hours ticked by. At 2 a.m., with tired eyes and hopeful hearts, we tried one last thing: a plate of irresistible food. The moment her tiny head dipped into the feast; we gently scooped her up. Rosie was safe and our hearts were full.
