A miracle on 4 paws

Indy – a miracle on four paws

Hours away from death after being hit by a car, a little tabby girl lay frightened and hidden deep in the bushes. When we found her, she was barely clinging to life. We rushed her to our wonderful vets at Clínica Veterinaria Asís, hoping for a miracle.

The moment we saw her, our hearts broke. The poor girl must have suffered for days. She was skeletal — weighing barely two kilos — disoriented and blind. It didn’t look good for the cat we registered as India. She was given urgent care and put on a drip, but there wasn’t much hope. Still, Juan, our vet, refused to give up on her.

A few hours later, something incredible happened. India began to nibble a bit of food from Juan’s hand. That small act said it all — she wasn’t ready to leave this world. Together, they fought, and against all odds, India began to recover. Day by day, she grew stronger. She was on her way to a miraculous recovery.

When she was well enough to leave the clinic, Claire took her home for further care. India turned out to be an affectionate, gentle soul — but we knew that finding a home for a blind cat would be a challenge. Of course, giving up was never an option. We started searching for a special foster family who could give her the love and patience she deserved.

We couldn’t have been more thrilled when Amparo and her wonderful family reached out to offer their home and hearts for as long as needed. India’s future was looking brighter by the day!

Out of the blue

Just a couple of days before she was due to move to Amparo’s home, another miracle happened. Out of the blue, the blind girl began to see again. Claire noticed her following the feather stick she was waving in front of her. In total disbelief, she rolled a ball across the room… and India got up and started to play. She had regained her vision — completely!

Amparo welcomed her with open arms, guiding her through the final stage of recovery and helping her adjust to her new life as a beloved pet. India, now called Indy, met the other cats and the family’s gorgeous Podenco, learning to enjoy the joyful chaos of a real family. The care, patience, and love of this long-term foster home were absolutely crucial for her recovery. We will be forever grateful, Amparo and family ❤️

Watching the world go by

Today, Indy is living her happily ever after. She has a feline friend and adores her new mom, following her around the house and curling up next to her on the sofa for cuddles. When she wants to play, she carefully picks a toy from her box, carries it over, and drops it into her mom’s lap — her special way of saying, “Let’s play!”

Indy also loves birdwatching with her cat friend, Patlon. Together they sit side by side on the secured balcony, spending hours watching the birds come and go. The birds (and the cats!) are safe, of course — but the duo never gives up their dream of catching one someday.

A TV star is born

We believe Indy must have had angels watching over her — or maybe she was just incredibly lucky. Either way, she deserved her miracles. Indy’s story was so miraculous that she was featured in an episode of TV show Animalades. Watch Indy’s segment below, you can find the whole episode on the A Punt website.

Have a long and happy life, miracle girl ❤️
