Street survivor to Beloved princess
Tabatha – Street Survivor to Beloved Princess
When a worried neighbour in Jávea reached out to Catland, they spoke of a little white cat in a desperate condition. That cat was Tabatha, “Tabs”, to those who came to love her.
Hunger was her downfall and her salvation. A humane trap was set, and within moments Tabs was inside, too weak and too starved to resist. What we saw next broke our hearts: a shattered hip, an intestinal hernia, and multiple injuries that told the story of a brutal collision with a car. Her future looked bleak. But Tabs didn’t give up. When we looked into her eyes, it was as if she was begging us: “Don’t let me go.” ❤️
Rushed to surgery, she fought her way through a difficult operation and began the long road of rehabilitation. At first, Tabs was fiery, swiping, hissing, lashing out. But beneath that defiance was a survivor’s spirit… and a weakness for food. With patience (and many tasty bribes), the walls around her heart slowly began to fall.
Tabatha’s story reminds us why Catland exists
Week by week, the impossible happened: the street-tough warrior melted into a mischievous, playful, affectionate girl who demanded cuddles as much as she once demanded food. And then came the happy ending she had always deserved. One of our team members, hopelessly smitten, opened their home and heart to her.
From battered street cat to cherished princess, Tabatha’s story reminds us why Catland exists: every life is worth saving, no matter how broken it first appears.
