Modou – A Heroic Rescue
Earlier this week, Team Catland received an urgent alert. A cat had climbed 12 meters to the top of a palm tree and was trapped, unable to climb down. After four days in the scorching sun without water, the situation had become critical.
The firefighters were called, but unfortunately, the tree was located in a completely enclosed courtyard, making it impossible for the fire truck to access. The firefighters tried to reach the cat with ladders, but the mission had to be aborted.
Determined to save the cat, Team Catland launched a rescue operation on Monday in the early hours of the morning. The key to success was a professional palm tree climber named Modou.
Eight team members were on standby with tightly held blankets, ready to catch the cat and break its fall. The cat jumped three times, each time climbing back up the tree. After the third jump, the cat climbed the tallest tree, worsening the situation.
Poor Modou had to scale the highest tree. We were prepared! As the cat fell towards the blanket, it frantically searched for an escape route but ended up heading towards a wall.
We caught him!
The cat was finally secured and gently covered with a blanket. Completely exhausted, he surrendered without a fight. The young cat was carefully placed in a professional restrainer before being taken to the veterinary clinic.
The cat, now named Modou as a thank you to his saviour, was in a bad state but our fantastic veterinary team was able to nurse him back to health. The boy is now in foster care and in the best of hands.
