Syl Mulder - Webmaster

My name is Syl Mulder, I am Catland’s webmaster. I have built this website and am responsible for it to continue to work and run smoothly. I am also a cat rescuer and foster and, I will join the shelter staff to care for and rehome our beloved cats.

In my previous life in The Netherlands, I worked in various IT jobs for a large bank. Mostly related to Internet Banking, a very dynamic and ever-innovative part of banking. I loved my job, but after 20 years I decided it was time for a change. I planned to travel around Europe, and work as a freelance Web Designer. Still work in the field that had captivated me for so long, but more time to enjoy life.

When I arrived in the Javea area six years ago, I adopted my first dog. A beautiful, loving, but shy Podenco. I had never heard of the breed before, but I soon learned about the horrific abuse these gentle-natured dogs have to endure. As I spent more time in Spain, my eyes were opened to the level of abuse and neglect many animals suffer here. I knew my traveling days were over: I decided to stay in Javea and dedicate my time to animal rescue. I joined a team of volunteers to help rehome Podencos for the local dog shelter. I have been involved in dog and cat rescue ever since.

Currently, next to my work for Catland, I am the webmaster and member of the board of Little Tigers. This Dutch cat rehoming association finds loving, trustworthy homes for cats from Spain, Greece and Eastern Europe. In partnership with Little Tigers, Catland has been able to rehome many cats into wonderful Dutch homes. I am proud to be working for both associations. Through these two positions, I have learned about almost all aspects of cat rescue. I use my experience and knowledge back and forth to the benefit of both organisations. A wonderful, and fruitful combination!
