After serving 34 years in the army I retired at the rank of Captain. My wife Claire and I had spent two happy years in Cyprus so found the cloudy cold days in the UK difficult to adjust to. Spain was our choice of new ventures and Jávea seemed to have everything that we yearned for. We packed up our home and started our new life in this idyllic town.

Claire had gradually become immersed in cat rescue and our home became a hotel for injured cats that needed to recuperate or those needing to sleep off their anesthetic after neutering. Claire’s dream had been to start a cat rescue centre as it was so heartbreaking to return a friendly cat back to a colony with the hope that they survived. Our commitment to this project was 100%. My army background was accounting for the British Forces Postal Service which gave me the perfect background to stand for treasurer for the newly formed association.

We have our three rescue cats and our rescue dog that I adore. I enjoy my role as treasurer and love the fact that we can make a difference to this beautiful town but most of all to the cats in need.
